I love singing and I am interested in being a Utaite but I have so much problems !

I want to be a Utaite but I don't know what I must do and what I need to begin? I also have so much questions I want to ask !'-How to select a stagename ?'-Is permission needed to cover Vocaloid or Anime songs ?'-I noticed that Utaites have their own illustrated characters. How do I get one ? Is it possible to get someone to help me with illustration ?'-How do I cover songs ? Other than recording your singing , what else do I need to do ?'-I hear people talking about this " editing " of song ? How do you do it and what does it mean ?

Hellos,

"How to select a stagename?" Your stagename is up to you o.O Some utaite just spontaneously choose their name because they see something nearby when they create their account XD but it can just as well have some deeper meaning to yourself, or maybe even an alternation of your real name.

"Is permission needed to cover Vocaloid or Anime songs?" As for VOCALOID songs, normally not. Producer's normally put off vocals of their songs in their video description. However with anime songs, there might be some copyright issues. If you are going to cover songs on YouTube, I'd be extra careful with that XD. However I think some anime are alright, and you might also want to change the pitch to avoid those issues.

"I noticed that Utaites have their own illustrated characters. How do I get one? Is it possible to get someone to help me with illustration?" Not all Utaite have their own illustrated depiction. But I guess those who have, are often friends with the illustrator, unless the illustration is a fandepiction. However when you first started, I don't think you need illustrations or illustrated videos. When people start noticing you, they'll come over the time (Though you can also ask your illustrator friends I guess.)

"How do I cover songs? Other than recording your singing, what else do I need to do?" You'll need to mix, encode and master your videos. (Or find someone else, who can help you) "Editing" might just refer to mixing.

The asking permission part always gets me • 3 •;  since I read somewhere that permission is needed to post a song cover, be it a VOCALOID one or not. And since I don't speak Japanese, reluctant to use Google Translate, nor do I have any friends who speak it, I have never uploaded anything X'D so... as long as there's oficial off vocals, it's really okay? • 3 •

I think.... If you are an Utaite (on NND), it'll be alright, considering that utattemita takes up a large part.

Not sure what about YT singers though, but I don't think it matters that much. (Unless the producer him/herself has xenophobia or such o.o)

I have yet to see a situation where somebody got in trouble for covering songs that are originally vocaloid songs. Something like "PONPONPON" might be different, because despite having a very popular Len cover, it was originally by an artist. However, many singers seem to cover it and I don't think they had permission. Realistically, I wouldn't worry about it. If you're not profiting off of these covers, I don't feel there should be a reasonable copyright issue. There sometimes is anyways but I think that's very rare. It's kind of like worrying about getting hit by a car on your way to school. If you're careful it probably won't happen. That's my opinion, anyways. But if it helps, as a backup measure most Youtaite have backup accounts in case something happens to their first one.

If I'm not mistaken, GigaP does his own instrumentals though. So when people use his instrumental...

Well, whenever/wherever you get an instrumental version to sing to, make sure you read the description or put it through google translate. When ppl put up instrumental versions, I'm pretty sure it's for others to use. But even if it doesn't translate perfectly you should be able to get the gist of whether they're saying "this is for cover use" or "DO NOT USE", I find that it's obviously stressed when they feel that way.

Stagename-for traps- ask parents what your name would be if you were the opposite gender.-for regular- fruit? Real name? Name converted into a japanese name?

Persona- come up with basic clothes and hair, make a friend draw character and then add more detail to the clothes, done!

Mixing- load your wav. File in what ever recording system you have, do the same with the off vocal of the song and make them lined up

P.s. you should probably use multiple tracks for a better sound
