Setup and singing tips

Hello everyone, I just recently bought myself a Blue Snowball microphone and thought about being an utaite/ youtaite. I have always found singing fun so I thought "Why not?". That was what I thought until I listened to my own recording T_T ... I sound off pitch as hell. It only happens to a few notes and when I looked up this problem apparently the mic picks up all the echo in your room as you sing (my room is pretty small and empty) and balance it all together into an end result. Does anyone have any tips of a good setup on reducing echos and improving your sound quality? Also it did be great if you guys could offer some singing tips as I am a newbie why normally just sings for fun.

I heard if you sing in your closet the echo will be minimized.

Try using Audacity. It just records your voice, and it's pretty good if you wanna mix your voice in with the music. Here's the download link: http://www.audacityteam.org/download/
