Not really. Utautai means want to sing, and from what I can see it's just a variation.
And all/most songs that are tagged with utautai also have utattemita in their title.
Plus what would you want to add into this category?
"No one heard of 歌うたい yet? 'cause right now, most of the 歌い手 are growing in infamy... ..."
You know, utautai and utaite are not the same, don't you?
And what do you mean by "growing in infamy"? ............ .-.
...Your first point contradicts with your second point.
First you said that Utautai is just a variation and there is not much to add to it then you said that Utautai and Utaite are not the same... ... you do know that Utautai=歌うたい, right?
As to infamy, I was obviously referring to numerous scandals that has happened so far:
Panyo for an illicit incident with a minor, Glutamine with the rom incident(cases like this in Japan are to be taken VERY seriously, and there are people who were caught and fined for it), Usa/Ayumi/Chouchou/Tenshoujo/etc. for park incident related to the earthquake in 2011, and Zebra/Kogeinu/Tenshoujo(lol again)/etc. for the 2ch incident which involved self-praise by changing IP(they even offered a letter of apology because it was true)...Those are the most infamous events that had shaken the utaite base so far.
This post pretty much resumes everything above:
But if I have to add every single details, then the list'll be long, but whatever, I'll try.
There was this guy who caused mixi financial damages by spreading falsesome rumours---that actually worked because the site was temporarily under construction and people really believed in his prank. This guy was only a highschooler at that time. And yes, he is an utaite.
While not as worse as the others, Kouhei is infamous for his tendency to dis others and can't keep his sarcasm to himself and is quite good at baiting trolls ensuring LULZ. (which will be an important point in the next person)
Nano got infamous for scamming on NND. There was this gender issue(actually I don't really care about this one that much, it's mostly for sexists anyway) and her first upload issue.
As for the gender issue, she NEVER stated her gender(and I am fine with that), and she stated clearly that it DOESN'T MATTER how people think of her gender(yay liberalism). But one day, when Kouhei took a look at Nano's videos and then twitted: "She's a girl, right?"--something like this among the lines. It just didn't sit very well with Nano.
If Nano was a FTM, genderqueer or an IS then it would be comprehensible to be identified as a male...But, after some people did some researches and found out pictures that she took had her boyfriend in it, and herself dressed in sailor uniform(cosplay, as she was an adult already at that time). So she could not be a FTM/etc. if she was happily dressed as a girl. She also cut contacts with her friend Himeka(yes the J-Pop Canadian singer) because in one of Himeka's blog posts, she has written something concerning nano and stated her female pronoun. So it seems that at all costs, nano was TRYING to hide the fact that she was female. If she wasn't, why bother with all the efforts(she deleted almost all of her old blogs due to this)?
It was revealed a little later that one of her early uploads(now deleted) has her description that says:"Oh and btw I'm a guy, I know that my voice sounds feminish but that's it."--or something along these lines... So this explains that she was trying to lure female fans from the beginning... ... But then when she got popular, she quickly deleted that video(but too bad for her that the description could still be found)... probably wanted to hide from her lies. And wanted to stay ambiguous.
And on her twitter activities, she uses guy-talk, as if forcibly trying to link her female fanbase to think that she's a male...and that's kinda pathetic. And there was this twitter post that said that she only had 10% of body fat.(PS: We all know that female have an average of 20% of body fat, even an anorexic female has 13% of body fat...While the average male has 10-15% of body fat--->so it explains that she's still trying out to stand out as a male... ...subtetly.
On the other point, she lied about her first upload being Mozaik Roll eng. ver. ...which was NOT the truth, her first upload on NND was Cantarella(now deleted/hidden to hide from all proofs---except if you do have the actual link). Months before the interview, her Mozaik Roll description was:"Hi, this is my first ENGLISH uttatemita upload." but then a little while later it changed to "Hi, this is my first UTTATEMITA upload.". We could assume the change is due to the fact that her cover got popular, she wanted to make more of a larger impact to her fanbase so she changed the description. Otherwise, she doesn't has a reason to lie at the interview.
NNI and uttatemita
Recently, there is this flood with VOCALOIDP collabing with Utaite, and it didn't sit well with the public image. Why?
Uttatemita=Try to sing something
Utaite=People that try to sing(amateurish)
Utautai=People that sing because they like to sing(not a problem of skill)
Why don't they post to the NNI/ongaku section then? That would be because it would not boast the views/comments/mylist because there is NOT ENOUGH COMPETITIONS there.
Because now the Utaite are now climbing the ranking for COMPETITION(whereas the origins of the Internet Karaoke Man aka IKM meme) now referred as: ニコニコのど自慢
And there is also the popularity multiplied by popularity effect.
If you upload NNI/ongaku=probably only people that like your music and the vocals will come.
If you upload VOCALOID ver+ utaite ver=your VOCALOID ver will be boosted by not only your fans but the OTAKUS' and the utaite ver will be boosted by some of your fans and the utaite's fans.
... ...something amongst the lines, it's ugly, but it's how it currently is in NND.
This is when the Utautai originated by Mokou came in, he proposed a new genre where people sing what they LIKE to sing regardless of the genre, whether the producer is popular or not. And Utautai doesn't care much about appearance with ikemen instead of Utaite who ALWAYS use an ikemen avatar/imagery(yes and resulted the Panyo incident).
Every time there's a Jin's song, the ranking's filled with 80% of his uttatemita videos... ...what a sight to behold...it's just like a Karaoke competition.
Kanseru also had an illicit relationship with a JK, but he didn't got caught as Panyo did because no one reported him. Not an utaite but an utautai(source: his encyclopedia page).
Norataichou, Miitogogorou, Junjun, Madotsuki@ works are craving for the limelight by accumulating a large fanbase by fishing old men on the net.(and yes, they are utaite because they DID upload uttatemita videos ^^; that got quite views)
And no, I am not hating on the utaites, I just hate people that does things by scamming and who resort to under(some decents utaite I like include SymaG, Umineko, Aburan, Hanycham, EVO+, F9, Wataame, Hotori, Rui, Himawari, Rumdarjun, Rib...those people rather than singing songs that just came out, they actually pick songs to their liking.)
and...damn it, that was me ^ I spent so 2 hours writing this and caused me to be automatically logged off... ...
So let's see if I get your point, and answer to them in this short time I can take for this, before doing some other stuff.
What do you think?
