Would it be useful to add a translyrics/lyrics section here or am I on the wrong wiki ?
I mean, sections with every languages would be nice for singers I guess :3 And I saw nowhere something that collect them all.
Is there a place ?
Thank you for your answer :3
*sigh while you were removing this thread I had a really long answer typed out, then it vanished because of this*
Okay so first. I suppose you mean having a page/several pages in one category, in which all lyrics are listed sorted after w.e.
I don't think it'd be a good idea to do so (at least not on the Utaite wiki)
As for translyrics:
There are many singers who do translyrics, and the may have different conditions on using tose (some say "You may use, just credit", some "Please ask before using" and some may not want them to be used at all and I don't know what else they could demand), and since translyrics are nevertheless the "creative property" of the translyricist, this has to be taken care of. (And crediting is super duper important)
Besides, when people take translyrics from a wiki (that can be edited by literally everyone), they'll probably less likely credit than when they got them from the translyricist singer's e.g. description box.
Secondly, it's very likely that translyricist singers put their translyrics either as text into their description, put a link to their translyrics or have a translyrics blog, and if they don't maybe they don't want anyone to use them. But fact is when you hear someone sing beautifully done translyrics, you can find them pretty easily.
As for Lyrics
Since now the most cover songs are VOCALOID songs, I'll first concentrate on those. There are many people who like to romanize Japanese lyrics; just to name a few that I can instantaneously think of: Boku no Kotoba (there are a bunch of blogs out there), Anime Lyrics and VOCALOID lyrics wiki (VOCALOID wiki even puts romaji lyrics).
Simply googling the name and "romaji lyrics" or some sort of variation of this query will prompty let google spit out several lyrics. Same for J-Pop and anime songs.
Also "all" songs is a bit extreme. Some databases/blogs are super elaborated, but you can never say that you can get "all", especially because e.g. blogs are maintained by one person (maybe at rare occasions a few?) and thus their romanization choices might be biased on their own preferences.
And aside from that. Song lyrics are not really related to Utaite wiki, so it doesn't belong here. I don't know, but you may wnat Lyrics & Translyrics wiki on your own, if it's that important to you to have all lyrics stacked at one place. (BUt again, crediting is super duper important)
However personally I've only at rare occasions encountered non-romanized lyrics, and when I did it was only for unpopular ones or just newly released ones.
Sorry for the delete/undo thing.
Thank you for this clear answer ! I understand better ! Yes it was kind of "Collect all on a wiki" but yes you're right. Thanks again for taking time to answer :3
Hope you don't find too many difficulties finding the lyrics you want.
What do you think?
