for ilass, im not sure what watchers meant, so please delete if im wrong TwT
@NyxAbsol Well, not constructive criticism but i guess it'll be better to sing songs that are easier to sing? Lost One's Weeping is really fast and,,, really fast and you sound like,,, really hard keeping it up? Just my opinion.
Phrases is better in my opinion.
But personally, I usually record everything in one go 3 times, and repeat the phrases where i think needs improvement.
The harmony isn't that bad, and you're not that out of tune... i guess? Though the harmony is loud making it sounds like duet.
Anw, YOU DO SOUND SHOTAISH and doesn't sound too forced!!! More singing will help you get better like how it helps others!! and that shota voice tho,,, it think you can naturally become a ryouseirui while trying to do the shotaish voice >w< like Nicoa or Nicoa and Nicoa Nicoa Nicoa Nicoa Nicoa Nicoa Nicoa Nicoa Nicoa Nicoa Nicoa Nicoa -... . Well, she is still shotaish //ignoreme
Your 'more like natural voice' is low and near with shota. So yeahhhhhhhhhh,, i personally include that as 'gift' or 'talent'. whatever >w<
that's all i can say~ cos im not good with these stuff...
From what I observe, I'll classify them.
One is the Big, Popular LIVE. like ATR's live (Soraru & Mafumafu's live). It's like, really 'hyped'.
Some others are smaller LIVEs. Maybe cafe lives or just smaller lives. From somewhere I've read (don't remember where; so I might be wrong.), some utaites are 'utaite' as job, even though it's not their main job. Like, they get money from there. So LIVE concerts are important to them. But if you want to just,, have fun,, then there is no need for LIVE. plus LIVE cost a lot of money.
And another live is,,, not a live concert but a live broadcast. utaites ususally use nnd live or twitcasting.tv. Some show faces (kaodashi), some only sings without showing face (koedashi).
Well, I can't really understand what you mean with 'youtaites that sing with utaites' but I think you mean someone like Reirei . She is both an utaite who uploads on both yt and nnd. She is not Japanese, she is filipino (?). More active on nnd community, but also active in yt community.
I'll answer in my opinion.
For utaite, Japanese is more than just super recommended. Becos, well, the community itself is like a Japanese community that isn't exclusively for Japanese (not sure how to phrase it).
Age isn't important. I know an utaite who started when he is a 5th grader. And now he is a highschooler.
Well, I personally can't agree with utaite being more popular than youtaites. There are also lots of amazing youtaite choruses too. For someone who can't speak/understand Japanese, uploading in youtube is more than highly recommended. Not just becos of language, but the community itself is more approachable from overseas/non-Japanese.
Well, when they chorus, they don't meet in RL. Cos if they do, I can't imagine what happens with medleys with like 80 people or maybe more. Plus, even if they are all Japanese, it doesn't mean they all live in the same place. Example is this. Misoshiru is from Hokkaido while Nicoa is from Toyama. Both are Japan but, those places aren't near. Plus, that chorus group sang three songs uploaded in different time. So I find it quite impossible. Though maybe there are cases where they have RL meetings or such.
So yeah. I suggest you become an youtaite or utaite or both with simple stuff first. Start with just audacity and earphone microphone (that isn't too bad quality). Try to find friends in the community, feel the difference and see where you belong. When you feel like you get better, start saving and buy equipments one by one, starting with what you think you need most.
If you want to 'improve' Japanese (it means you at least know the basics), some sites I recommend are HiNative, Lang8 and Jisho.org
yt copyrights are hard to avoid.
Some things that are said to work that i've heard are changing tempo, changing the pitch, and not use original video. OR overlay the original video.
Giving credits is like, unwritten ettique. So crediting or not crediting has nothing to do with your video taken down or not.
please correct me if i'm wrong. thankss
I'm not sure, but you're talking about singing aliases...? no? Well, I'll just answer about aliases.
In my opinion, Alias is quite important. Some people, don't like having same aliases and they pick fights and create dramas. So I suggest you stay out of too mainstreams names like 'Shiro' or 'Kuro' or 'Bunny-chan' or 'Sora' or you get what I mean. I hope you get what I mean.
In deciding aliases, you can use something you like as reference; Animals, Numbers, or just your favorite letter. You can also use your real name as reference. Like combining first two and last two letters of your names or thing like that. You can also make names unique by changing the way you write it, like 【96Neko 】, Where she reads it as Kuro Neko. 9 is Kyu while 6 is roku. You can also use symbols, like 【Kou, 】, which you call him Kouten. Another interesting one is 【みそ汗 】. It's actually misoase, but he forced it into Misoshiru (Miso soup) which is written like みそ汁.
Some suggestion/reference I have, (that I actually wanted to use but,, well, i like my current alias better) but I'm not sure if anyone use that name. ((and I just love to play with how you write it www))
Z-A：Zetoa || A-Z：Atoze || 72これ：NaniKore (What is this) || &@：andat || 45&471：Shigoto Shinai (I don't work) || ;;;;：semicolonS || s/ash：slash
You can always start one. Plus, you can get better opinions/critisism there. The difference in the number of yt utaites here and there is quite big ^^
For opinion on the self duet thing, I'll send via your SC i guess? I'm more comfortable with one-one chats >w<
Good Luck becoming ryouseruis to you all, and the people who will read this later and wants to become ryouseirui too~! (this is longer than my expectation)
@Cultureshock007 I personally think it's boyish enough. Just need more practice to control it. While you're getting better in controling it, you might probably automatically get even more boyish. That's the only thing I can say,,, cos I'm not expirienced with these stuffs. Good Luck~!!
@One of theWikia Contributor(or Anon or whatever) lol. another expierience sharingg,, I used to hate my voice, until I heard some people voice which is more,,, out of tune, out of rhyme, out of everything,, than me and I suddenly,, like my voice more. And I let a friend of my hear my raws, and she says I sound nice (but bad pronounciation when singing in english). That friend always says she sounds bad and I find her voice cute. and I just,,, get used to my voice and actually I love it now www and I don't do harmonies. I just sing and upload them dryly. LOL. I thought the harmonies thingy will get into me slowly as I keep on listening to utaites cover till my ears hurt ww.
If it's in private chats, and you ask for a honest opinion, then I'll give them. I don't really lie in my opinion. But sometimes, I try to avoid critiques stuffs... Cos I'll ended up getting killed,,, I almost got killed already//soplsdontkillme //runs //hidesincloset
I apologize beforehand if I sound rude. I want to help but I'm not in my best emotional condition, so I might mix in my anger into the answer.
I suggest instead of being a nnd utaite, you become a yt utaite insteas as start. Because nnd is much more complicated, with premium membership and such. But if you really want to be in the nnd community, make sure you can at least understand Japanese. Even if there is a English version, it's still better to know Japanese as the people in there are mostly Japanese.
Next is, what kind of utaite you wanna become? Aiming as high as Soraru? Or I wanna be really serious in this? Or I'll just have fun?
For the aiming as high as Soraru and being serious, you'll need lots of money. Why? You'll need to commision artist, and mixer as you said above, you don't know how to mix an audio. Another thing is you'll need a professional mic.
If you wanna just have fun, you don't really need to mix it amazingly or need a professional mic. You can just use our earphone/headphone/laptop/desk microphone. Just sing, and upload. Make friends. You'll meet mixers friends and you can ask them to mix for you or teach you how to mix. Or you can also use smule. or nana if you can Japanese.
The reason I said this is because you ask a very vague question here. Sorry, but you could have googled it and tons of pages will appear that can help you. From your google, you could have narrow down your question. Not just google, there are tons of similar question in this wiki itself.
Please also refer to other threads in this wiki. I've posted YTChorus a lot of times, not just me another person did too, if you read other threads. Please check it out. There isn't much but there ARE some people who will mix for free there. And there is also lots of mixing tutorials there and in google. If you're gonna ask what application to use? please google it too. There are audacity, reaper, adobe audition, etc.

If what you really want to know can't be found anywhere, or you're not really sure/understand it, the feel free to ask here again. Or you can contact me anywhere you find me.
Tbh, now I don't really know who is who anymore,,, both are 'a wikia contributor' and I'm confused...
I'll just continue with my usual pattern, tho you might already see this in other threads, check out ytchorus. It's a really good forum for YT utaites, but I also see one or two (actually I only know one, reirei) NND utaites.
I'm not pro, I just self-learner, but if you need help in Japanese, like you can't find romanji of some songs, or you want to make translyrics but no English translation could be found ((It happens often to me cause I keep listening to new vocaloid songs)) or you want some 'newer' vocaloid songs recommendation, or lets fangirl/fanboy over utaites, DM me on twitter @nayu_notyou or wherever you find mee LOL
Also, maybe a bit late but,,, everyone can become a ryouseirui. But without talent, it's really really hard. You might ended up sounding like you are 'forcing yourself to sound low' (or high in male case) which is worst than singing naturally with the voice you are gifted with.
Tbh, in the past, when I found nano, I wanted to become ryouseirui, but one day I just realize I have my 'own' voice which sounds pretty nice. So I stop trying to become ryouseirui. //justsharing //dontkillme //iwanttolive //hidesincloset //criesincloset
oh wow! OP here and thank you for the introduction to smule and nana! ill be sure to check them out today :) have you personally used nana? whats it like?
I use nana. It's nice becos I can duet with nicoa//dontkillme
But if you're not really good with Japanese, I advice you just use smule. In nana, title are in Japanese, and Japanese songs are usually listened by Japanese. So maybe it's gonna be hard. and more people sing rather than listen. I usually just use nana when I'm bored.
I can't really give any recording tips but, well, I'll tell stuff related to youtaite that I've been repeating for i dunno how many times.
It's not wrong, but it's better if you check ytchorus . There are more expirience people there. Not just expirience people, the number of youtaites is greater there than here.
And just a friendly warning or telling, about credits. It's better if the pic is from a more,, 'safe' website, like pixiv or devianart; and make sure to ask permission. Tho, sometimes artists says there is no need to ask for permission. Source like zerochan or wallpaper sites are usually dangerous (not always).
Also, tips on EQ is,, well... here . It's an EQ Cheat sheet. hope it's useful!
anw, I LOVE YOUR VOICEEE!! Natural Ikemen Voicee~ Look forward to more covers! //plsdontkillme
@Flyingsky I listen to your beserk and you seem to have a lot of potential and NATURAL IKEBO!!! //fangirls
Anyway, what I wanna say is, try to 'join in' the community more. It'll help in many way as I've been observing the 'newbie' or 'beginner' youtaites for a while. //plsdontkillme
Other than that I don't really have any advice to give (being a complete beginner myself) but for the people who do not want to sing in public (as in, in person), I know a great Japanese singing application that allows you to share music with other users and even do collaborations and such (^^*) Only downsides I would say are that most users are Japanese and so communication might be a bit difficult if you do not speak it a bit and that being extremely polite and the likes, they do a lot of "follow back" and "clap back"-ing (which may not always help if you really want to judge the quality of your voice...) Name of the app is 'nana' (*'u'*)
There is also smule. It is actually a web (?) similar to the app nana. It's more widely use by non-japanese people.
There is how to follow them there
Google them. You can find them from utaite blogs, like in tumblr there are lots of utaite blogs. Not sure if they repost the pics tho. or scroll his twitter's media. (I scrolled Nicoa's media 'till last year and found a lot of cat pics, only a few with her own face ww) another way is from line@. Soraru posts selfies there, not sure with Mafumafu. Also, from his blog maybe?
Yesh. Something like that. Glad you can understand. I wish you good luck >v<
Well, I use aduacity. I download the off vocal/insturmental, then I also download the original/covered by utaite.I import to audacity. Then I match the timing. Then I start recording while wearing my headphones. When I'm done, I silent the on vocal or just delete it.
I'm not sure if you can understand the bad explanation..
