Hello everyone! I’m pretty new to the utaite community and I’ve only been singing for a few years. The biggest thing I’m struggling with right now is that I can hit notes, stay on pitch and even sustain them well. But my tone doesn’t sound cool at all! I know there might not be much you can say without reference but are there any general tips for developing a cool tone?
What's on your mind?

Beginning Singers
Hi, I'm your local animator, song writer(Not really but meh) artist (Very mid art) You can call me Kanna, and I wanna know if I can be an Utaite without a NND or Youtube account, but rather a Band Lab account. I've been pondering this for a while, and uh, yeah.
I am the Manager of a Teen Utaite group named Angel’s Masquerade. We mainly communicate through discord, message me at Kiyoshi#4045, Email is Yukiratzz@gmail.com. We plan to release group covers on Pinterest, Youtube, and possibly Nico Nico Douga. We have 5 members as of right now, and we are looking for at least 1 more. I will interview you on whatever platform you message me on.The only rules are you have to be within 11-17 years old. I will give more details if you message me
I can provide more info if people care,, thanks!!!!
Hello~~!!!
I was wondering if anyone could help me with this? I have a really hard time learning the songs lyrics and especially the rhytm of the person singing the lyrics and even after weeks it's still hard to recall it... thanks in advance!!!
Please listen if you have time ^-^
Am also looking for mutuals!
Hi everyone!
I'd like to start an utaite group (youtaite technically?) and upload covers -- eventually original songs (?) -- on Youtube starting Summer 2022!
We could also do livestreams and play games together (optional)!
-- And talk about utaite, of course ;)
I don't have a specific number of members in-mind, but I think it'd be fun to have enough to form some sub-groups/units ^ ^
Currently looking for singers, character + cover artists, video editors, instrumental makers, and mixers!
If you're interested, I have a casting call where you can apply! Or you can also do so in the comments here if you don't have an account - please provide your Discord (required for communication) + role you're auditioning for and showcase your talent (check casting call for more info)!
Thank you! <3
Hi, can someone recommend me the software that is relatively easy to use for beginner? I don't actually mind if it's paid or not. I also if anyone know how I could alter the instrumental version key or have a guide on that it will be really nice, since some utaite/producer only share the original key of the offvocal version ;w;
Hello! I just uploaded a new cover but i'm not sure if it sounds okay. I'm not that good at mixing but i've been improving my vocals for these past few months. Any feedback/criticism and tips anyone can give would be a great help!
Here's the cover:
Hello hello 🎶
I hesitated between a lot of songs to start on NND. And I had an idea.
Rather than wasting my time hesitating, why won't I take my favorite moments in the songs I want to cover and put them to make a utattemita (with a theme, or an artist in particular, like, an utattemita with songs by syudou, sad songs, etc.) ?
I'm thinking this might be a good idea, but I'm not sure.
Does anyone have an opinion to share ?
Hello, hello, I'm Kuroshiro, I have been a Utaite fan and wishing to be one for a long time.
I'm actually hesitant about two songs to cover :
邪魔 by syudou (which is an VOCALOID song) and Marigold by AIMYON (which isn't an VOCALOID song).
So I wonder, is it mandatory for a Utaite to sing VOCALOID songs ?
Hello! Im back again with a new cover and I am searching for feedback / criticism to improve. This time I think I was able to improve my rhtym a little bit, but I´m not satisfied with my vocal skills, I think its gotten worse compared to last time. Thanks a lot beforehand!
I'm not sure about it, I think my voice is good enough, but I still need to ask my parents, I've been praticing every day, I already thought a name, Aka (赤), and still working on a design, but is there a certain age you have to be to be a Utaite? Should I just wait till I'm 18? I would love to do it soon because I may not be alive in the next couple years, so it's now or never. But since I'm still young, and my voice will change over the years, so maybe it's not the best time, plus with school and everything, I might be too busy, the earliest I want to start is on October 31st, which is when I'll be 13, and then I might start. I could make art of Aka by myself, since I draw a lot, Im just bad at drawing hands. I've been drawing since I was in preschool, my parenst consider me as a good artist, but it takes me forever to draw, it can takes HOURS. But what do you think?
Hello! I did a short cover of Baumkuchen End and wanted to know what I could improve.
Thanks a lot beforehand.
AND I WANT ACTUAL ANSWERS, NOT UPVOTES!!!!!!!!
So if you've seen my Twitter recently (@GamerNeko39_Rei) I want to become more well known. And by that I want to start covering sooner, like at the end of the summer. I think my voice is good enough to start covering (I practice every day), but I still need tips on what to do.
First of all, recording. I have a microphone that went with a karaoke system and I have a Sony speaker that you can plug in an instrument or microphone and can record it to a USB, is that good enough for recording?? And I also live in a house with lots of sound (like fans and air conditioners), would that affect anything while I'm recording, and what would be the best room to record in?? And one last thing, I can't really sing a song alone, I need to sing along with a song in order to stay on pitch, and my voice usually changes more than I want it to when I sing along to a song with headphones, yet when I sing along to a song coming out of my speaker my voice is usually louder than the song and I can't hear the song well (or I sing quiet so I can hear the song, which would be too quiet for recording), is there a way I can resolve either one of those??
Then, editing. I have no experience with mixing at all, and like in Netoge Haijin Sprechchor there's that one part where the voice glitches, I want to know if I have to sing those parts or not. I also want to know more about overlapping, since I plan to record the Acapella (while I'm singing along to the song of course) and overlap it with the instrumental.
Next, illustrations. I have my design planned out, but I'm not too good with drawing myself and I'm a bit afraid to ask an artist 'can you draw me for my cover', is there any way I can resolve that??
Now, collaborations. I have two problems with collaborations: how I'm gonna record when collaborating, and collaborating with Japanese. For the first problem, I want to know how I can plan out which lyrics to do if I want a certain part of the song and like if I should just record my parts all in one and cut them and overlap them or if I should just sing the parts I'm doing when I'm recording and record the time of the whole song (long story short, like record the whole song but only sing my assigned lyrics). And for the second problem, I want to collaborate with Japanese utaites too but I usually use a translator (it's actually pretty accurate) but I'm afraid that the distance between America and Japan will get in the way of the cover, for example the other utaite wants me over at their place to cover it something (idk if that would happen tho), do you have any tips on that??
And lastly, lyrics and uploading. The lyrics isn't too long of a problem, I just need to know how to learn all the lyrics to a song in like a day or so or if I should look at the lyrics while recording. And uploading isn't too long of a problem either, it's just can I upload my covers on a Chrome OS?? That's the only computer I have so far, and I want to know if that'll support things for uploading my covers.
If you have any answers, please share them!! I'll also appreciate it if you tell me what you do to handle any of these, that'll help too!!
Please look forward to hearing my covers!!
I want to improve! Besides the "lack of emotions", what other things should I improve on?
I'm a new youtaite and I want some feedback on how to improve!!
Hi, everyone! I, too was contemplating over actually uploading a cover since I can't do mixing and stuff, but a few days ago, I uploaded my first cover! I am still looking for someone who can do mixing, since I really am bad at that, but I want to encourage those who are still on the fence about whether to take that first step. Just try and you never know where you could go!
I would also want to do a collaboration with you guys in the future :)
My first cover is here! Link: https://youtu.be/vfF32Ut9JT0
Hello! I want to be an utaite in the near future, but I still need some help.
I want to use a XLR mic, and saw one called AT2020. It has good reviews, so I thought of buying it. But, I also saw a lot of people here recommending Snowball and occasionally Yeti, which are USB mics. Which, in your opinion, is better (by adding it's pros and cons if possible)? If I do decide to use a USB mic, there's no other setup, and you just need to plug it to your computer, right?
How do you add voice filter/effects to your covers? Is there a specific program to do that?
And, when do you know if it's alright to use the official MV? I know how to draw so it doesn't really matter to me if it's unallowed, but I want to save as much time..
Last question from me is: how do you properly control your voice? I'm a girl, but I have a low voice (alto). Although my fake voice is soprano (very high). So, I'd like to learn how to sing using alto (my real voice).
Thanks in advance!
I’m a new Youtaite with two songs so far, and I know where I need to improve the most(intonation, etc.) but I would like another person to help me on how to improve~! I won’t mind if you use harsh words TAT
Thank you, here’s a cover I uploaded today~
Note: Please do not repost my cover, thank you for respecting my decision~(I’m quite proud of the art and have anxiety issues of “what if someone steals it” itis)
